Lincolnshire Ballet Associates
Lincolnshire Ballet Associates was created to offer high quality, holistic, pre-vocational ballet training to young, talented students in the region. Michelle von Boisman has created the programme to nurture young, talented students in the region in pursuit of excellence in classical ballet. Using knowledge gained from studying the Royal Ballet School’s prestigious Diploma in Dance Teaching, Miss von Boisman has tailored a student centred programme that supports each dancer’s cognitive, psychomotor and affective learning.
We are excited to announce that from September 2026, Lincolnshire Ballet Associates will officially be a Royal Ballet School Affiliate Programme for both junior and mid associates.
The affiliate programme is a holistic approach to the learning of dance, where in addition to performance skills, students will learn about the art form as a whole through repertoire, choreography, and appreciation. This will enable students to understand the language of dance by relating what they learn to the diversity of the art from past and current repertoire. The programme is based on providing a high-quality learning experience that values the process of learning more than the end product. Students are encouraged to develop their knowledge and ability in ballet more broadly than learning a set syllabus.
Programme details
Term Dates
Terms will typically follow the Lincolnshire School’s term dates. Classes will run every week for approximately 36 weeks a year and term lengths will vary in line with academic school terms.
Weekly Class times (Mondays)
16:15 - 17:45 Senior Associates (not currently Affiliated)
17:45 - 18:45 Junior Associates (Affiliate Programme Level 1)
18:45 - 19:45 Mid associates (Affiliate Programme level 2 and 3)
Junior Associates
Dancers will study Level 1 of the RBS Affiliate Programme. Classes are suitable for children aged 5-6 years old, who may be studying pre-primary, primary in their syllabus classes.
Mid Associates
Dancers will study level 2 and 3 of the RBS Affiliate programme. Children aged 7-8 will study level 2 and children aged 9-11 with study level 3.
These ages are approximate and will depend on each child's personal development. As a guide, Level 2 students may be studying grade 1 or 2 in their syllabus classes and Level 3 students may be studying grade 3 or 4 in their syllabus classes.
Senior Associates
These classes are currently for older students who are studying grade 6 or above in their syllabus classes. The classes are not part of the affiliate programme but follow the same ethos and structure as the junior and mid associate classes.
Classes will include the fundamental elements of a classical ballet class and include conditioning, creative practice and repertoire. Students will also study pre-pointe and pointe, depending on their individual development.
Fees
Junior and Mid Associates are £8 per 60 minute session.
Senior Associates are £12 per 90 minute session.
Fees are paid upfront at the start of each half term and will be based on the number of classes in that term. It is possible to pay monthly by direct debit.
Fees are non-refundable and there is a notice period of 4 weeks prior to the start of the next term to withdraw from the programme.
Commitment and Reassessment
Student progress is benchmarked through assessment material devised by teachers for their own students, not a pre-set syllabus, and is moderated by The Royal Ballet School against specific criteria and guidelines.
Students should expect to study each level for 18 to 24 months before assessment.
To get the most out of the programme, students must be committed to attending classes regularly. Attendance will be taken into account when assessing progress towards assessment.
Applications
Auditions are not required to join our associate classes but there is an application process to ensure dancers are placed at the correct level within the programme.
